Sports Week
Refreshing Strawberry Smoothie
This week is sports week and we are going to need lots of energy! Make sure to drink plenty of water and eat lots of fruit! Why not try this super easy recipe to make a smoothie that will boost your energy levels?
Ingredients
8 strawberries
10 grapes
2 bananas
Method
Put the strawberries and grapes in the blender.
Peel the bananas and put them in as well.
Switch on the blender and set it to a low setting and slowly increase the speed.
Leave it blending for 2 minutes then turn it off.
Sieve the smoothie to remove the grape skins. Serve your smoothie!
Show and Tell
Choose an object that you have made or something that you like and chat about it to a family member, like you usually do in class with your teacher and friends! Make sure to give them time to ask questions at the end!
Lollipop Stick Catapult
Create a cool catapult and have lots of fun launching objects into the air while learning all about Newton's Three Law of Motion!

Wellbeing Week
This week we are reminding each other the importance of looking after ourselves and others. Take some time out to relax and unwind this week. Do something that makes you happy and feel good about yourself. You can send us a short video/photo of you dancing, singing, drawing, exercising, reading or whatever it is that makes you feel amazing!
While we all need to look after ourselves, it is important not to forget the ones around us. Do something kind for someone. Can you pay them a compliment, make them a nice treat, or help them with a task? There are so many ways to be kind and not only will they feel good but so will you! Remember it costs nothing to be kind!
Healthy Strawberry & Banana Ice Cream
The weather is gorgeous these days and everyone is eating lots of ice cream! Why not try and make your own healthy ice cream which tastes just as good. It's so healthy, you could eat one every day!
Recipe:

Sock Puppets
Use an old sock to create a puppet. Decorate it with whatever materials you can find at home. When you're finished, you could invite your family to a puppet show and entertain them with your creative new toy!
Can You Create A Story Bag?
Find a bag and collect items to go in it that relate to a well known story. If you can't find an item, you could draw a picture instead! Here is an example of a story bag based on 'The Three Little Pigs'.

Ms Carroll always captures wonderful photographs and memories at Scoil Íosa. Now it is your turn! In Scoil Iosa we are so lucky to be surrounded by beautiful nature and wildlife. We are so lucky to have the lovely Tymon Park on our doorstep. The next time you go for a walk, take some photos of what you see. Send your favourite picture to your teacher and we will include it in our nature gallery this week. Get snapping !
Random Notes of Kindness
Write some nice notes for your family. You can leave them under their pillows to surprise them! Perhaps you would like to write a little note for your teacher to let them know how you are getting on. Maybe you could take a photo of it and email it to your teacher? If not, keep it for when you return to school.

Draw your favourite animal. Look on Dublin Zoo Live Stream or at Art Hub for kids for some inspiration.

Well done to our boys and girls for all their hard work and efforts and a big thank to our wonderful Green Schools Committee for overseeing it all! This is a difficult time for everyone but there are still lots of things we can all be thankful for. Find a jar at home and add a happy memory or something that you are grateful for each day. After a while, you will have a jar full of fond memories!

Competition Time!
Scoil Íosa's annual Easter art competition is underway. This year the girls and boys are invited to design and construct a diorama or decorate an egg. A winning entry will be chosen from each class and whoever wins will receive a voucher in the post. Entries are to be e-mailed to class teachers by Friday the 3rd, you can also post them to our school twitter!

Tissue Box Monsters
At Scoil Íosa, we are all about reusing and recycling. Why not turn all those empty tissue boxes lying around the house into monsters? When you're done, use the extra pom-poms to "feed" the monster.
