Senior Infants and 1st class love a good story! Check out some of our favourite picture books below:
A Special Visit
We had some exciting visitors in Senior Infants and 1st class today! Isla, Amber, and Holly are assistance dogs in training. They help children and adults with special needs. You can recognise a helper dog because they wear a reflective coat. We learned that if you see them with their owner, you should always ask before you pet them. Isla, Amber, and Holly's owners were happy to let us have a cuddle! They were super fluffy!
Marvellous Maths
Senior Infants and 1st class are fantastic mathematicians! Check out some of the things we've been up to so far this year!
Grandparents' Day
Senior Infants and 1st class really love their Grannies and Grandads! We've been talking about all the things we love to do with our grandparents, and some of the different things they've taught us.
Some grandparents were able to visit us in school. They helped us to design the 3D houses we're going to make later this week. Then we had a prayer service with the whole school. |

Adventure to Imaginosity
1st Class News
On Friday, we went on a bus to Imaginosity with Junior and Senior Infants. We had a great time. When we got there, there was a pretend restaurant, a supermarket, a doctor's surgery and a climbing frame. After exploring, we learned about how spaceships take off. We did experiments with balloons and carbon dioxide, and then we made our own rockets!
Lilia: My favourite part was driving the car.
Rebecca: I liked the exercise bikes and checking my pulse.
Cian: My favourite part was spying on people from the submarine.
Farrah: My favourite part was the real car!
Archie: I liked robbing the bank!
Jacob: My favourite parts were racing the cars and building Kay a house.
Saoirse: I liked robbing a bank with Cian and Archie.
Jake: I liked going into the climbing frame.
Lucy: My favourite part was in the bank, making rubbings of coins.
Grace: I had no favourite because it was all cool!
Teacher and Kay: We enjoyed having cake and tea in the diner!

Conor's Cowboy Suit
Last week, Senior Infants and 1st class got to visit Castletymon Library. We met an author called Gillian Perdue, who read us one of her exciting stories. 'Conor's Cowboy Suit' is about a little boy who loves everything about cowboys! When Conor's parents give him a present of a cowboy suit, he wants to wear it all the time. At school Conor is teased about his cowboy outfit, but he doesn't care. Then the other children in his class think it's great fun and they want to dress up too - even the teacher!
Gillian had cowboy hats for everyone and we had lots of fun acting out the story and doing all the different voices. We even learned a cowboy dance!

Oíche Shamhna i Naíonáin Shinsearacha/ Rang a hAon
We've had so much fun in Senior Infants and 1st class celebrating Hallowe'en! We created some crazy pumpkins and did lots of Hallowe'en maths and phonics activities. Gardaí Danny and Richie visited to remind us about staying safe during the holidays. We know that we should go trick-or-treating with an adult and we need to be extra careful around bonfires and fireworks. Have a look at our photos below, and look out for our silly pumpkin friend!
