A note to parents
Dear parents ,
The work given is a list of suggested activities that can be completed at home. I’ve tried my best not to use too many online activities as I’m aware that some of you have multiple age groups at home and have limited devices. The children are very familiar with the activities uses and should be able to complete most independently once they are given instructions.
I just want to remind you that we are self isolating to stay well, that means mentally well too! If trying to get your child to focus on these tasks at home while juggling your other responsibilities is causing too much stress then don’t. Children learn in all sorts of ways, just because they aren’t completing the list above doesn't mean they are not learning. On the other hand, if trying to entertain a bored, restless child is what's causing you stress or pressure then by all means set them to work! Do whatever works best for you and your family !
Don’t hesitate to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions about the work that’s been set.
Wishing you good health now and always,
Find it - use any book , magazine newspaper etc. It does not have to be at their reading level and ask them to see how many ways they can find the
Make it - make the word using playdough, lego , string or any bits and bobs the more creative the better!
Use it - practice writing the word in cursive script and write 3 sentences. Remember capital letters and full stops.
Move it- write the word and stick it around the house at different doorways child has to read/ spell the word to enter the door.
With each phrase the child should practice it and teach it to an adult or their teddies. As an extra challenge they could try to use it everyday instead of the english version !
You can access the Bua na Cainte resources for free go to www.edco.ie/bua Username : trial Password: trial. They can practice their songs and play fun Irish games.
There is a free website called duolingo I think the children would love for 5-10 mins each day.
Don’t forget if your children need time to be calm or to relax you can use cosmic yoga for kids and go noodle. The children are familiar with sensory exercises so ask them to show you their chair exercises.
Please note for the children who were absent and could not bring home their books both Planet Maths and Two Little Frogs are available to view for free online at folensonline.ie
